Mark MacAulay was raised in Victoria, British Columbia and Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada. He began drawing and painting at an early age. Major influences on him while growing up in the 80's were Mad Magazine, Garbage Pail Kids, Nintendo and Saturday morning cartoons. Mark likes that balance between cutesy fuzzy fun and bloody horror. This is evident in many aspects of his work. He graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design with a BFA in Media Arts. In addition to illustration and painting, Mark is also a filmmaker as well as works in the film industry. He has worked on a number of short films, music videos and features. Mark is influenced by many different filmmakers such as Stanley Kubrick, John Waters, Richard Linklater, John Carpenter, Robert Rodriguez and of course Alfred Hitchcock.
