Mark MacAulay was raised in Victoria, British Columbia and Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada. He began drawing and painting at an early age. Major influences on him while growing up in the 80's were Mad Magazine, Nintendo and Saturday morning cartoons. He graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD University) with a BFA in Media Arts. Mark likes that balance between cutesy fuzzy fun and bloody horror. This is evident in many aspects of his work. In addition to illustration and painting, Mark has worked on a number of music videos, short films and features. Mark is inspired by many different artist such as Earl Norem and Basil Gogos as well as filmmakers like Stanley Kubrick and John Waters.
